It’s understandable why so many people visit St. Pete Beach in the summertime: the appeal of sun, fun and beautiful beach days is undeniable. But we’re here to let you in on a little secret: summer in St. Pete lasts far longer than you may expect. Our part of the world enjoys warm days and cool nights year-round. So if you’re looking for a fall getaway that will extend your summer season a little longer, TradeWinds Resort is the place you want to be.
Enjoy Excellent Attractions
St. Pete’s fantastic attractions are available to guests for much longer seasons than those in other areas of the country. That’s thanks to year-round weather most regions can only dream of. Locals agree: there’s no better time than fall to visit the Sunken Gardens, or take a stroll along the metro’s best shopping and recreation at the St. Pete Pier. Since it’ll be beautiful outside, why not plan a hike at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve, or take a Pinellas Trail bike tour? The water is also still warm well into fall, so you may also want to plan a fishing trip, or even go kayaking. The best part? Crowds are thinner and lines are shorter, but seasonal pricing may even be in effect in many cases. Need more ideas? Check out our post on “Fun Things to Do in St. Pete Beach”.
Take a Museum Tour
St. Petersburg’s vibrant culture is on full display at the area’s incredible museums. Art buffs will want to make time to visit the Salvador Dalí Museum, which boasts the world’s biggest collection of the famed surrealist’s work. Great Explorations Children’s Museum is a fun-for-all-ages stop where kids can have fun as they learn about the world. The region’s rich past infuses every exhibit at the St. Petersburg Museum of History. You also won’t want to miss the Museum of Fine Arts, Morean Arts Center, James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art, or any of the city’s other extraordinary galleries.
Indulge Your Inner Angler
St. Petersburg is home to some of the best fishing opportunities you’ll find anywhere in the world. Our proximity to the sun-warmed waters of the gulf — and the near-endless variety of trophy species therein — means that we’re a global hub of sportfishing. As such, our shores are home to more excellent fishing charters than you can shake a rod and reel at. No matter what “bucket list” catch du jour you’re after, chances are far better than fair that a seasoned local boat crew can help you land it here this fall.
Find Fall Festivals and Events
Since the weather is always perfect here, St. Petersburg continues to enjoy a robust festival season well past when many other cities are packing in their events calendars for winter. The St. Pete Pier Fall Festival happens October 8 – 9, and features live music, amazing food, and a pumpkin patch. St. Pete Bike Fest (November 18 – 21) is one of the largest motorcycle rallies in the state, and is sure to be a thunderously good time. And November 17 – 20 will see the city hosting the Sanding Ovations Masters’ Cup, a sand-sculpting competition that brings the world’s top sand artists to the city to compete with unbelievable beach-based art creations.
